Early Life and Youth Football
Mofokeng grew up in Sharpeville, south of Johannesburg. He developed at the Transnet School of Excellence, a well-known football school, before joining Orlando Pirates’ youth set-up.
Orlando Pirates
Mofokeng broke into the Pirates first team as a teenager in 2023. Small, quick and good with the ball, he became one of the most exciting young players in the country. During his time at the club, Pirates won the MTN8 three times, the Nedbank Cup, the Carling Knockout and, in 2025/26, their first league title in 14 years. At the end of that season he was named PSL Footballer of the Year.
The Move to Europe
In July 2026, Orlando Pirates confirmed an agreement to sell Mofokeng to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, one of Belgium’s top clubs. He signed a contract until June 2030, with the option of one more year. The fee was not officially announced, but reports put it at about €3.5 million (around R65 million), which would be the highest fee ever paid for a player from a South African club.
