When Is Your Funding Confirmed?
NSFAS says funding is confirmed once you register at a public university or TVET college and NSFAS matches your registration with your institution. After that:
- NSFAS pays your tuition and registration fees directly to your institution.
- Your allowances are set up and paid through the approved payment channel.
How to Sign the NSFAS Bursary Agreement (NBA)
NSFAS describes these steps:
- Open the link. You receive an email with a link to sign online. Click it.
- Enter your ID number. After you insert your ID number, NSFAS sends a one-time PIN (OTP) by SMS to your registered cellphone number.
- Enter the OTP. Type in the OTP to continue signing.
- Confirm. When you finish, a message on the screen says the terms and conditions were submitted. This means your agreement is signed.
If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must sign for you.

Why the Agreement Matters
The bursary agreement sets out the conditions of your funding, such as studying the approved qualification and meeting academic progress rules. NSFAS cannot pay your allowances until your funding is confirmed, so sign as soon as it is ready.
