Quick answer: SASSA grant increases for 2027 have not been announced yet. The Minister of Finance announces new grant amounts in the national Budget in February 2027, and the new amounts are normally paid from April 2027. Until then, the Older Persons and Disability Grants stay at R2,400 a month and the Child Support Grant at R580.

How SASSA Grant Increases Work

February: The Minister of Finance presents the national Budget in Parliament. It includes the new grant amounts for the next financial year.
April: The new amounts usually start with the April payments, at the start of the new financial year.
Some years: Government has sometimes split an increase, with part paid from April and part from October.

What About the SRD R370 Grant?

The SRD grant is funded until 31 March 2027. Whether it continues after that, and at what amount, depends on the 2027 Budget and government’s plans, including the proposed Basic Income Support Grant. Read Basic Income Support Grant for the latest.

Every year, fake messages claim a “double payment” or a big increase “from next month”. Only trust amounts announced by the National Treasury, SASSA or the government’s official channels. SASSA never asks you to pay to receive an increase.
