Example: How Much Tax on R300,000 a Year?

For someone under 65 earning R300,000 taxable income:

  1. Tax from the table: R44,118 plus 26% of (R300,000 minus R245,100) = R44,118 + R14,274 = R58,392.
  2. Subtract the primary rebate: R58,392 minus R17,820 = R40,572 for the year.
  3. That is about R3,381 a month.
